Αν δεν κάνω λάθος, ο Springsteen είχε εμπνευστεί το Nebraska απ'το Frankie Teardrop των παραπάνω. Ποιό διασκεύασε btw;

Springsteen closed the Royal Albert Hall shows with an extraordinary cover of 'Dream Baby Dream'. an old song by the scary punk-era experimental duo Suicide. He got some kind of echoed loop going out of his pump-organ and strolled around the stage singing the song's disconnected phrases; there were no beats, of course, but it was as hypnotic and as hymnal as Underworld's 'Born Slippy'.

Aγόρασα επιτέλους χτες την νέα έκδοση του Born to Run. Κλαίω λέμε με το live του 75 στο Λονδίνο. Σε καποια φάση αναπνέει τους στίχους του Spirit in the Night (εκεί που ο Ηazy Dave τρέχει προς την λίμνη πληγωμένος), σέρνεται πάνω στη σκηνή και πέφτει μέσα σε μια σχισμή από όπου το αόρατο πνεύμα του κάνει έρωτα στην τρελλο-Janey. Τι να λέμε? Κι ακόμα δεν έχω δει το documentary.

Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen's twenty-first album,
'We Shall Overcome The Seeger Sessions,' on April 25. The album features
Bruce's personal interpretations of thirteen traditional songs, all of
them associated with the legendary guiding light of American folk music,
Pete Seeger, for whom the album is named. Speaking of the origins of the
new music, Springsteen said, "So much of my writing, particularly when I
write acoustically, comes straight out of the folk tradition. Making
this album was creatively liberating because I have a love of all those
different roots sounds... they can conjure up a world with just a few
notes and a few words."

Springsteen recorded the album with a large ensemble. The musicians on
the record are Springsteen (guitar, harmonica, B3 organ and percussion),
Sam Bardfeld (violin), Art Baron (tuba) Frank Bruno (guitar), Jeremy
Chatzky (upright bass), Mark Clifford (banjo), Larry Eagle (drums and
percussion), Charles Giordano (B3 organ, piano and accordion), Ed Manion
(saxophone), Mark Pender (trumpet), Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg
(trombone) and Soozie Tyrell (violin). Lisa Lowell, Patti Scialfa,
Springsteen, Pender, Tyrell, and Rosenberg contribute backing vocals.

'We Shall Overcome The Seeger Sessions' will be released in DualDisc
format, with the full album on one side of the disc and DVD content on
the other side. The 30 minute video side of the DualDisc contains
extensive behind the scenes footage of the recording of the album. In
addition, the DualDisc package will contain two bonus tracks and a
special booklet including a note from Springsteen.

Springsteen is planning a short tour in the U.S. and Europe to accompany
the release of the album. He will be appearing with most of the
musicians who appeared on the CD. Details will be announced separately.

According to Springsteen's longtime manager Jon Landau, "'We Shall
Overcome The Seeger Sessions' has a lightness and ease to it, a sheer
joyfulness, that makes it very special from top to bottom. Bruce has
taken a core group of classic American songs and transformed them into a
high energy, modern and very personal statement."

Eντάξει είδα και το documentary για τις ηχογραφήσεις του Born to Run. Οποιοσδήποτε μουσικόφιλος, ακόμα κι αν δεν είναι fan του αφεντικού, το χρωστάει στον εαυτό του να το δει. Το όραμα, τα συναισθήματα, το ταξίδι, η αγωνία, η ποίηση, οι διαφωνίες, η φιλία, η υπέρμετρη φιλοδοξία, το όνειρο. Πριν από λιγο είδα το Reign Over Me, μια συμπαθητική ταινιούλα με τον Adam Sandler και είχε μπόλικη αναφορά στο αφεντικό.

Το πρώτο κομμάτι είναι πολύ μιαμ.

γιεα, τα γνωστα. εχει επιστρεψει εδω και καιρο. απο το Seeger Sessions. επισης η ολη ιδεα ενος λαηβ φαινεται απιστευτα ελκυστικη και δακρυα κτλ αλλα ολο σε μεγαλους συναυλιακους χωρους παιζει και απλα θα ηθελα - ιδιως με τις τελευταιες του δουλειες - να τονε δω καπου πιο μαζεμενα

Λοιπόν Milton άκου καλά και προσεκτικά. Για μένα έχει επιστρέψει από το Rising αλλά εδώ περνάμε σε άλλο επίπεδο. Το Magic είναι ό,τι καλύτερο έχει βγάλει τα τελευταία 23 χρόνια (επεκτάσιμα κατά 2 αν με πιάνεις). Το νόημα του άλμπουμ βρίσκεται στο Long Walk Home (θα τολμήσω να πω ότι σα σύνολο το άλμπουμ, στιχουργικά μιλώντας, έχει την αντίθετη κατεύθυνση από το Born To Run*).
Ως εκ τούτου η επιθυμία σου να τον δεις σε πιο μαζεμένο χώρο δε θα γίνει πραγματικότητα, αφού παίζει μόνο σε αρένες σε αυτή την περιοδεία και είναι ήδη σολντ αουτ.

Danny Federici, for 40 years the E Street Band's organist and keyboard player, died this afternoon, April 17, 2008 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a three year battle with melanoma.

The Federici family and the E Street family request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund. A web site for the Fund is being established and we'll post its link when it is on line.
