Από τις 27 Ιουλίου στην Πάτρα πραγματοποιείται η μεγαλύτερη έξωση Ρομά (Τσιγγάνων) της τελευταίας δεκαετίας. Δεκάδες οικογένειες είδαν τις παράγκες τους να γκρεμίζονται από συνεργεία του δήμου με την επικουρία της αστυνομίας ή τις βρήκαν γκρεμισμένες όταν γύρισαν έπειτα από εποχιακές εργασίες. Άλλες υποχρεώθηκαν να τις εκκενώσουν μέσα σε λίγες ώρες, με αντάλλαγμα μερικές εκατοντάδες ευρώ και την αόριστη υπόσχεση για επιδότηση ενοικίων μηνών σε σπίτια που καλούνταν να βρουν μόνες τους.

Ορισμένοι από τους άστεγους, πια, Ρομά πέφτουν θύματα παράνομης έξωσης ή απόπειρας έξωσης για τέταρτη φορά την τελευταία διετία. Σε όλες τις περιπτώσεις, ο Δήμος Πατρέων επικαλέστηκε το ίδιο ακριβώς επιχείρημα, ότι δηλαδή δεν έκανε έξωση των Ρομά αλλά «καθαρισμό» του χώρου από «εγκαταλελειμμένες» οικίες και αφού πρώτα «εξασφάλισε τη συναίνεση» των περιοίκων Ρομά, αλλά όχι προφανώς των απόντων ιδιοκτητών των κατοικιών.

Οι καταγγελίες προέρχονται από το Ελληνικό Παρατηρητήριο των Συμφωνιών του Ελσίνκι, αλλά και τους ίδιους τους Ρομά σε επιστολή τους προς τα κόμματα της αντιπολίτευσης. Πρόκειται για το τελευταίο επεισόδιο σε ένα παλιό σίριαλ. Η Αθήνα, ολυμπιακή πόλη το 2004, η Πάτρα, πολιτιστική πρωτεύουσα της Ευρώπης φέτος, ο Βοτανικός, «παναθηναϊκή πόλη» σε λίγα χρόνια, δεν μπορούν να χωρέσουν τους Ρομά.

Ακούω ήδη τον αντίλογο: τι πρέπει να γίνει, δηλαδή, όταν οι ανάγκες κατασκευής ενός δημόσιου έργου επιβάλλουν να απομακρυνθούν μερικές παράγκες; Μα, φυσικά, αυτό που επιβάλλει ο νόμος και η διεθνής πρακτική, παροχή αποζημίωσης ή εναλλακτικής στέγασης.

Στην περίπτωσή μας, όμως, οι αρχές συστηματικά αθετούν κάθε συμφωνία με τους Ρομά. Χαρακτηριστικότερο παράδειγμα ο δήμαρχος Αμαρουσίου (η θητεία του οποίου μπορεί κάλλιστα να αποκληθεί ολομέτωπη επίθεση κατά φυσικών και ανθρώπινων πόρων): αφού απέσπασε τη συναίνεση των Ρομά να απομακρυνθούν, μετά αθέτησε το συμβόλαιο μετεγκατάστασης που ο ίδιος υπέγραψε.

Αυτή ακριβώς η τακτική του μικροαπατεώνα που ακολουθούν οι αρχές, αγνοώντας ακόμα και δικαστικές αποφάσεις, επιστρέφει αυτούσια στους εκλεγμένους άρχοντές μας όλα τα στερεότυπα που με ευκολία αποδίδουμε στους Ρομά. Αυτή η τακτική έχει οδηγήσει σε μια αλυσίδα από αρνητικές αναφορές και καταδίκες: Συνήγορος του Πολίτη, Εθνική Επιτροπή Δικαιωμάτων του Ανθρώπου, Διεθνής Αμνηστία, Επιτροπή Υπουργών του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης, Επίτροπος για τα Ανθρώπινα Δικαιώματα του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης, Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή Κοινωνικών Δικαιωμάτων.

Η συνύπαρξη τοπικών κοινωνιών και Ρομά είναι δύσκολη υπόθεση και η επιδίωξη επικράτησης αισθήματος ασφάλειας με παράλληλο σεβασμό στα δικαιώματα όλων χωρίς διακρίσεις είναι ακόμα δυσκολότερη. Όταν όμως η πολιτεία δεν παρεμβαίνει με ουσιαστική πολιτική ένταξης, αλλά δρα με την κουτοπονηριά χωροφύλακα του '50, τότε η συνύπαρξη αυτή μοιάζει σχεδόν αδύνατη.

Τη μεγαλύτερη διαφορά ανάμεσα στα επιτόκια καταθέσεων και τα επιτόκια δανεισμού στην ευρωζώνη έχουν οι ελληνικές τράπεζες, επιβεβαιώνει έκθεση της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας που δόθηκε την Τετάρτη στη δημοσιότητα.

Σύμφωνα με την έκθεση «Διαφορές επιτοκίων ανάμεσα στις χώρες της ευρωζώνης», η διαφορά ανάμεσα σε καταθέσεις και χορηγήσεις (υπέρ των δεύτερων βεβαίως) είναι 3,65%, έναντι 1,68% που είναι ο μέσος όρος στη ζώνη του ευρώ.

Στα προσωπικά και καταναλωτικά δάνεια το μέσο επιτόκιο των ελληνικών τραπεζών (για δάνεια με σταθερό επιτόκιο για ένα έτος) διαμορφώνεται στο 9,33% και είναι το δεύτερο υψηλότερο στην ευρωζώνη μετά την Ιταλία (10,67%). Το μέσο ευρωπαϊκό επιτόκιο για αυτή την κατηγορία διαμορφώνεται στο 6,83%.

Στα στεγαστικά δάνεια το μέσο επιτόκιο (σταθερό για ένα χρόνο) διαμορφώνεται στο 4,25% έναντι 3,59% που είναι ο μέσος όρος για την ευρωζώνη. Η Ελλάδα είναι η δεύτερη πιο ακριβή αγορά μετά την Γερμανία (4,56%). Για δάνεια με σταθερό επιτόκιο από 1 έως 5 χρόνια το επιτόκιο στην ελληνική αγορά διαμορφώνεται στο 5,39% έναντι ευρωπαϊκού μέσου όρου 4,05%.

Κατά την ΕΚΤ, η διαφορά των επιτοκίων πιθανώς οφείλεται στην ανομοιογένεια σε επίπεδο προϊόντων, η οποία αντανακλά ενδεχομένως τις διαφορές μεταξύ των εθνικών εμπορικών καθιερωμένων πρακτικών, καθώς και μεταξύ των κανονιστικών και δημοσιονομικών ρυθμίσεων.

Επίσης, η ΕΚΤ σημειώνει ότι αυτό το φαινόμενο που πλήττει τους Έλληνες δανειολήπτες μπορεί να οφείλεται στις διαφορές του πιστωτικού κινδύνου (συμπεριλαμβανομένων των διαφορών ως προς τις πρακτικές για τη σύσταση ασφαλειών) και στη διάρθρωση της αγοράς.

Οι ελληνικές τράπεζες, από την πλευρά τους, υποστηρίζουν ότι η διαφορά οφείλεται στο ότι η χώρα μας έχει υψηλότερο πληθωρισμό, ενώ επικαλούνται και τα υψηλά λειτουργικά έξοδα μιας τράπεζας στη χώρα μας.

Ο Π.Λαφαζάνης, υπεύθυνος Οικονομικής και Κοινωνικής πολιτικής του ΣΥΝ, σχολίασε ότι η «διαπίστωση της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας ότι η διαφορά ανάμεσα στα επιτόκια χορηγήσεων και καταθέσεων στην Ελλάδα (3,65%) είναι υπερδιπλάσια έναντι του μέσου όρου της ζώνης του ευρώ (1,65%), επιβεβαιώνει όχι μόνο την καταλήστευση των πολιτών αλλά και την ύπαρξη καρτέλ των τραπεζών στη χώρα μας».

Chameleons vary greatly in size and body structure, from the less than 4" Brookesia species, to the 24" Calumma parsonii. There is even one species, thought to be unique to Malawi's Mount Mulanje, that is barely 1.5cm across when fully grown. Many have head or facial ornamentation, be it nasal protrusions or even horn-like projections in the case of Chamaeleo jacksonii, or large crests on top of their head, like Chamaeleo calyptratus. Many species are sexually dimorphic, and males are typically much more ornamented than the females.

The main things chameleon species do have in common is their foot structure, their eyes, their lack of ears, and their tongue:

Chameleons have feet that are split into two main "fingers", with a soft pad in between. These "fingers" are equipped with sharp claws to gain traction on surfaces such as bark when climbing. An interesting fact about chameleons is that they have two claws on the outside of their front foot and three on the inside, yet on the back foot this is reversed.

Their eyes are the most distinctive among the reptiles. The upper and lower eyelids are joined, with only a pinhole large enough for the pupil to see through. They can rotate and focus separately to observe two different objects simultaneously. It in effect gives them a full 360 degree arc of vision around their body. When prey is located, both eyes can be focused in the same direction, giving sharp stereoscopic vision and depth perception.

They lack a vomeronasal organ. Like snakes, they don't have an outer or a middle ear and seem to be deaf; at least they cannot detect airborne sounds. But some, maybe all, can communicate via vibrations that travel through solid material like branches.

Chameleons have incredibly long tongues (sometimes longer than their own body length) which they are capable of extending out of the mouth at a rapid rate. It has a sticky tip on the end which serves to catch prey items that they would otherwise never be able to reach with their lack of locomotive speed. The tongue's tip is a bulbous ball of muscle, and as it hits its prey, the tongue rapidly forms a small suction cup. Once the tongue sticks to a prey item, it is drawn quickly back into the mouth, where the chameleon's strong jaws crush it and it is consumed. Even a small chameleon is capable of eating a large locust or mantis.

Η Ρόμα πίεσε στα αρχικά στάδια του αγώνα αλλά δεν μπόρεσε σχεδόν ποτέ να απειλήσει την αντίπαλη εστία. Αντιθέτως η Ίντερ, κατάφερνε να διατηρεί την μπάλα στα πόδια της και αυτός ήταν ο λόγος που μπόρεσε να προηγηθεί σε ένα καίριο σημείο του αγώνα. Ο Ερνάν Κρέσπο μπήκε μέσα στην περιοχή στο 44' από τα αριστερά όπως επιτιθόταν η ομάδα του και κατάφερε να πλασάρει τον Ντόνι του οποίου η μπάλα πέρασε κάτω από τα πόδια.

Στο δεύτερο μέρος η Ίντερ θα μπορούσε να κλειδώσει τη νίκη αλλά στο 55' ο Ντόνι μπλόκαρε το πέναλτι του Σουηδού άσου αλλά μην νομίζει κανείς πως οι Ρωμαίοι πίεσαν όσο περνούσε η ώρα. Η νίκη της Ίντερ ήταν πάρα πολύ εύκολη και θα ήταν όλα ακόμα καλύτερα αν δεν αποβαλλόταν ο Πατρίκ Βιεϊρά με δεύτερη κίτρινη κάρτα.

Intro: It is rather hard to define the entire rum family as a group because of the variety of rum produced. Each of the light, gold, dark and spiced rums have their own distinct characteristics and furthermore the rums produced in each country differ from one another due to varying laws and tradition in production.
History: After Columbus's introduction of sugarcane to the West Indies in 1493 the first rum was produced in Brazil, Barbados and Jamaica making rum the first spirit of the New World. By the mid 1700's rum was being made throughout the Carribean and South America. It soon became popular in New England and was produced there as well. The Rum Sling made of rum, sugar, water and lemon juice is considered the first American cocktail.
Distillation: The use of sugar cane distinguishes rum from other liquors. The sweet juices from the sugar cane are turned into molasses and this syrup is then fermented into rum. Rum is then aged in casks, the type of cask used is the determining factor on the color of rum produced in the end.


Light Rum: Light-bodied rum is sometimes referred to as White or Silver and is a very subtle liquor, much like vodka with a sweet tooth. These rums are generally aged in stainless steel tanks for up to a year and filtered before bottling. This process gives light rums their clean, light flavor and makes this variety the most common rum for cocktails.
Gold Rum: Medium-bodied rums are often called Gold or Amber rum and are rich and smooth. This is a result of either the production of congeners (organic compounds produced during production) or the addition of caramel. Gold rums are often aged in oak casks which also contribute to their dark, smooth characteristics. Gold rums make a smooth sipper and can be used in place of light rum in some darker cocktails.
Dark Rum: Heavy-bodied or dark rums are typically used in rum punches and are combined with light rum in many cocktails such as a Hurricane. These are the richest rums that recieve their flavor from being aged in charred oak casks. Besides adding a rich, sweet flavor to cocktails, dark rums are the preferred sipper of the rum family, especially Angostura 1824 and Barbanco 15 year.
Flavored Rum: Flavoring rum by adding spices and aromatics during the distillation has become popular in the latter part of the 20th century. Beginning with coconut and spiced rums, the variety of flavored rums has grown to exceed the number of flavored gin and vodka options available.
Overproof Rum: Overproof or high-proof rum is often only used as a float or dash in cocktails. This potent rum is 75% pure alcohol (150 proof) and can be dangerous to the human body if it is not diluted in some way. Never use overproof liquors of any kind in cooking or near an open flame.
Cachaca: This Brazilian rum differs from others because it skips the molasses stage and uses pure sugar cane juice in the distillation process. Cachaca is the sweetest rum available and can best be tasted in a Caipirinha.

μάχη του τριημέρου συνεχίζεται και σήμερα Τετάρτη και μάλιστα με αρκετούς αγώνες, απ’ τους οποίους φυσικά ξεχωρίζουν οι αγώνες για το πρωτάθλημα των μεγάλων της μακαρονίας. Τρεις τριάδες έχω βγάλει, τις οποίες και φυσικά θα παίξω, ενώ όποιος θέλει μπορεί να διαλέξει ορισμένες από αυτές τις ομάδες και να τις πλέξει σε ένα μόνο δελτίο.

Ψαράδες!

Στο πρώτο δελτίο λοιπόν, θα παίξω μία τριάδα από τους ψαράδες της Σκανδιναβίας! Η Μιλικόσκι του 2,30 μαζί με την Έλφσμποργκ του 1,80 και την ΑΪΚ Στοκχόλμης του 2,40 αποτελούν μία τριαδούλα υψηλού ρίσκου, αλλά καλοπληρωμένη που πιστεύω πως αξίζει τον κόπο!

Μακαρονία!

Στη μακαρονία έχω βγάλει μία τριαδούλα με τρεις άσους. Η Αταλάντα του 1,90 και η Παλέρμο του 1,55 αλλά και η Τορίνο του 1,80 μπορούν να κερδίσουν και να μας στείλουν στο ταμείο. Φτάνει φυσικά να παίξουν τη μπαλίτσα τους και να μην… κοροϊδεύουν αλλάζοντας πασίτσες στη σέντρα!

Τέλος!

Και η μάχη της Τετάρτης θα κλείσει με μία τριαδούλα επίσης, εξαιρετικά αφιερωμένη στους φίλους μου τους ξενύχτηδες! Η Κάντιθ στο 1,70 είναι ό,τι πρέπει για ξεκίνημα! Μέσα και η Γκόιας του 1,75 και μέσα ασφαλώς και η Βέλεζ Σάρσφιλντ του 1,80! Αυτά τα ολίγα φίλοι μου και καλή τύχη σε όλους!

A Nottingham man says his pet dog's penchant for ladies' underwear left the animal needing emergency surgery.

Cliff Hall of Stapleford said his pedigree Bull Mastiff Deefer has eaten around 10 pairs of knickers in the past 12 months.

But the latest two pairs, belonging to Mr Hall's daughter Stacey, 15, became lodged in the dog's small intestine.

The dog could not drink, eat or move properly and a vet had to remove the blockage at a cost of more than £1,000.

Bathroom floor

Mr Hall, said: "He's had a bit of a penchant for them in the past, this isn't the first time he's eaten a pair.

"If people have left them on the bathroom floor when they have had a bath he will typically wander in afterwards and steal them.

"Normally they go straight through him but on this occasion it agitated his intestine and left him in a bit of a state."

He said that the dog's strange habits had prompted the family to take out pet insurance, which covered the cost of the operation.

The dog had to stay at the vets for several days but has now been given a full bill of health.

Mr Hall added: "We've got a new house rule that underwear goes into the washing machine where Deefer can't get at it."

The Battle of Aquae Sextiae (Aix-en-Provence) took place in 102 BC. After a string of Roman defeats (see Battle of Arausio), the Romans under Gaius Marius finally defeated the Cimbri and Teutones.

Marius took up a strong position on a carefully selected hill and enticed the Teutones to attack him there using his cavalry and light infantry skirmishers (most of whom were allied Ligurians ). The leading Teutone elements, the Ambrones, took the bait and attacked. They were soon foolishly followed by the rest of the horde. Meanwhile, Marius had hidden a small Roman force of 3,000 nearby. At the battle's height this force launched an ambush, attacking the Teutones from behind, and throwing them into confusion and rout. In the ensuing massacre 90,000 Teutones were slain and 20,000, including their King Teutobod, captured.

Plutarch mentions (Marius 10, 5-6) that during the battle, the Ambrones began to shout "Ambrones!" as their battle-cry; the Ligurian troops fighting for the Romans, on hearing this cry, found that it was identical to an ancient name in their country which the Ligurians often used when speaking of their descent ("οὕτως κατὰ ὀνομάζουσι Λίγυες"), so they returned the shout, "Ambrones!". The captured women committed mass suicide, which passed into Roman legends of Germanic heroism (cf Jerome, letter cxxiii.8, 409 AD [1]):

By the conditions of the surrender three hundred of their married women were to be handed over to the Romans. When the Teuton matrons heard of this stipulation they first begged the consul that they might be set apart to minister in the temples of Ceres and Venus; and then when they failed to obtain their request and were removed by the lictors, they slew their little children and next morning were all found dead in each other's arms having strangled themselves in the night.

Objective and results

Cricket is a bat and ball sport. The objective of the game is to score more runs than the opposing team. A match is divided into innings during which one team bats and one team fields. The word "innings" is both singular and plural in cricket usage.

If the team batting last is dismissed while their total score is n runs less than that of their opponents, they are said to have lost by n runs. If, in a two-innings match, one team is dismissed twice with a combined first- and second-innings score less than their opponents' first-innings score, then the winning team has no requirement to bat again and they are said to have won by an innings and n runs, where n is the difference in score between the teams. If the team batting last is dismissed with the scores exactly equal then the match is a tie; a tie is a rare result, particularly in matches of two innings a side. If the team batting last reaches their target, they are said to have won by n wickets, where n is the number of wickets the opposition still needed to take in order to dismiss them. If the time allotted for the match finishes before either side can win, then the game is a draw.

If the match has only a single innings per side, then a maximum number of deliveries for each innings is often imposed. In this case the side scoring more runs wins regardless of the number of wickets lost, so that a draw cannot occur. If this kind of match is temporarily interrupted by bad weather, then a complex mathematical formula known as the Duckworth-Lewis method is often used to recalculate a new target score. A one-day match can be declared a "No-Result" if fewer than a previously agreed number of overs have been bowled by either team. This can occur if an interruption makes a resumption of play impossible, for example an extended period of bad weather.

Weaknesses

Being human, Batman's character flaws can be exploited. As opposed to the Silver Age Batman who shows moments of light-hearted humor and works well with others, he is currently portrayed as untrusting of other heros, even ones he has known and worked with for years. Batman and Superman's relationship is often strained due to their differing ideologies. Some enemies use this to their advantage, isolating the Dark Knight. Batman is sometimes portrayed as arrogant, treating allies with various degrees of disrespect, for example, upsetting the resurrected Green Lantern Hal Jordan to the point that Hal punched him. Additionally, his childhood trauma makes him emotionally distant from even those closest to him, and a common theme among the younger heroes he often works with is how hard it is to gain his approval.
