Ο λογος σημερα μας διηγειται την ιστορια του Fever.
Ξεκινωντας απο το 1956,με στιχουργους τους Eddie Cooley και John Davenport (ψευδωνυμο του κυριου Otis Blackwell, που ειναι υπευθυνος για επιτυχιες οπως τα Great Balls of Fire του Jerry Lee Lewis και Don't Be Cruel του Elvis Presley), o Little Willie John το τραγουδησε για πρωτη φορα με εκπληκτικη επιτυχια και η "δεσποινις" Peggy Lee το συνεχισε.

Το Fever, αφου γεννηθηκε το 1956, εφτασε μεχρι και τον δικο μας αιωνα, αφου περασε απο τα dancefloors της Νεας Υορκης με εκτελεση της Madonna στο Erotica (μην ξεχναμε και την εκτελεση της ιδιας στο I want you του Marvin Gaye), "επαιξε" στο λαρυγγι του θρυλικου Ray Charles, αναγεννησε το ειδος της big band/jazz με την εκτελεση του υπεροχου Michael Buble, o Elvis Presley το αποθεωνει, οι Joe Cocker, και Brian Eno το ντυνουν στα ηλεκτρικα, ακουμε την Celine Dion να το τραγουδαει στις πιστες του Las Vegas και καταλαβαινουμε ποσο δεν της παει η τζαζ, ο νονος James Brown το απολαμβανει, οι Superpitcher το γεμιζουν με βαρια beats, οι Doors το ανακατεψαν με το Light my fire, η εκτελεση της Eva Cassidy θα κανει σαγονια να πεσουν στο πατωμα και η Beyonce παρακαλειται να μην το ξανατραγουδησει.
Προσωπικο αγαπημενο, το Fever ειναι πραγματικα ιστορικο κομματι. Παρα τις απλες μελωδιες του, ειναι δυσκολο στην εκτελεση, ενω αυτη της Peggy Lee παραμενει μια μεγαλη ανατριχιλα. Το χαρακτηριστικο κοντραμπασο εχει αντικατασταθει απο πολλα οργανα κατα καιρους, αλλα τολμω να πω πως το αποτελεσμα δεν ειναι το ιδιο.

"Which Side Are You On?" was a song written by Florence Reece in 1932. She was the wife of a labor organizer for the National Miner's Union in Harlan County, Kentucky. In 1932 the miners of that region were locked in a bitter and violent struggle with the mine owners. In an attempt to intimidate the Reece family, deputies hired by the mining company illegally entered and searched the Reece family home. Sam Reece had been warned in advance and escaped, but Florence and their children were terrorized in his place. That night, after the men had gone, Florence wrote the lyrics to "Which Side Are You On?" on a calendar that hung in the kitchen of her home. She took the melody from a traditional Baptist hymn.
