Since Odonian is away... here's another interview with Jeff talking about the addition of Steve Smyth to the band, the new album etc.

Abrasive Rock: With this record, quite a few of the reviews and fan feedback has been, though it is not a copy, it is somewhat a return to the Politics [of Ecstasy] sound in terms of the complexity. What are your thoughts on that? Do you feel that’s accurate?

Jeff Loomis: That could just be because of the simple fact that I worked with another guitar player too that time around who was Pat O’Brian who’s now in Cannibal Corpse. The last two records that we’ve done, Enemies of Reality and Dead Heart in a Dead World, have just been me and Warrel [writing songs]. We were discussing the other day how having one guitar player in the band, sometimes things can start sounding a little bit the same, but when you have another guitar player and you’re working on something with somebody else, the complexity level can come back because you have two guitarist that are banging their heads together trying to come up with something really, really heavy. That’s probably what’s behind that.
