The ELO corner-2nd edition
Σ' αυτό το topic θα καταχωρούνται κείμενα σχετικά με τους Electric Light Orchestra και τους σχετιζόμενους με αυτούς καλλιτέχνες (The Move, Idle Race,Roy Wood, Wizzard, Steve Gibbons Band,Orchestra etc.). Νέα, κριτικές, φωτογραφίες, σχετικά άρθρα και λοιπά ενδιαφέρονται θα συγκεντρώνονται εδώ.
Ξεκινάμε με ένα πολύ ευχάριστο νέο. Ο BEv Bevan παρ' όλο που αποχώρησε εδώ και χρόνια από τους ELO Part II (πλέον THE ORCHESTRA) συνεχίζω να παίζει drums με τους Bev Bevan Band, οι οποίοι μετονομάστηκαν σε Bev Beavn's Move. Μάλιστα αυτήν την περίοδο παίζουν live, αλλά μόνο στην περιοχή του Birmingham (fuck!).
Αυτές τις μέρες δύο συλλογές βγαίνουν με τα καλύτερα τραγούδια των ELO. Βέβαια έχουν βγει τόσες συλλογές, αλλά το καλό είναι ότι οι ELO συνεχίζουν να μένουν στη δισκογραφική επθικαιρότητα, έστω και με best ofs (περιμένουμε διακαώς το νέο album, το διάδοχο του ZOOM (2001)).
Ήδη πανηγυρίζω, διότι ακόμη ένα ELO DVD κυκλοφορεί. Θα λέγεται Inside The Electric Light Orchestra 1969-1973 και θα περιλαμβάνει σπανιότατο παλιό live υλικό. Υπενθυμίζω ότι στην αγορά βρίσκονται άλλα δύο ELO DVDs, τα "Live at the Wembley/Discovery" και "Zoom Tour Live".
Τέλος, το κλασικό ELO κομμάτι "Evil Woman" ακούγεται στο trailer (δεν ξέρω αν ακούγεται και στην ταινία) του "Monster in Law". Άλλα κομμάτια των Εlo, που πρόσσφατα ακούστηκαν σε ταινίες ήταν , το "Mr Blue Sky" στο trailer του "Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind", το "State of Mind" στο "The Sweetest Thing", το "Livin' Thing" στο "Adaptation" και το "Every Little Thing" από το προσωπικό του Jeff Lynne στο "Deuce Bigalow-Male Gigolo".
Tα καλύτερα albums των ELO είναι όλα μέχρι και το Time του 1981. Κάποιοι θεωρούν καλύτερο το "Α Νew World Record" και το "Out Of The Blue". Εγώ λατρεύω όλα τα albums τους, αλλά ναι, καλύτερα είναι τα δύο προαναφερθέντα, όπως και τα τέσσερα πρώτα (και τα οποία προτείνονται σε όλους τους prog rock fans-τα μεταγενέστερα προτείνονται στους art rock fans).
Eπομένως, όποιος θέλει να έχει κάποια ELO albums στη δισκοθήκη του, ας εμπιστευτεί τα παρακάτω albums:

Tα "Secret Messages", "Balance of Power" και "Zoom" προτείνονται, μόνο σε όσους θέλουν να έχουν πλήρη εικόνα του group.
Ένα νέο που ξαφνιάζει: οι Def Leppard βγάζουν νέο album, μόνο με διασκευές. Το ELO related είναι ότι μιά από τις διασκευές θα είναι το "10538 Overture" από το ντεμπούτο των ELO! Για του λόγου το αληθές...
For a long while, the stories and rumors have been going round about Def Leppard recording an album full of cover songs. While we can confirm that the band have indeed recorded their versions of some hit songs from the 70s, it is not 100% sure that these songs will actually be released as a full album. The band does have ideas about releasing these songs in form or another (an album, singles, B-sides, online, etc.) in 2005, but this has not materialized yet.
We were trying to hold further news about this album back as long as possible, as we did not want it to interfere with the North American release of the "BEST OF" album (more news about that tomorrow), but it appears the excitement of the impending release of this much anticipated album has kind of forced us to reveal/confirm some more details.....
