Joey DeMaio, together with other Knights of Malta, is coming to Timisoara to listen to Carreras
Bassist Joey DeMaio, the founder of the fulminant rock group Manowar, has decided to come to Timisoara, especially for Jose Carreras' concert, that will be held Sunday, 20th July, at 8pm.
Truely a rock legend, Manowar has been, alongside Deep Purple or Metallica, a road-opening band in the history of music. The group exists for 28 years. It was founded in 1980 by Joey DeMaio and Ross the Boss and has since become a standard in metal music, a band with millions of admirers who know that Manowar sings for their fans, not for money.
Joey DeMaio will come to Timiºoara as a member of the official delegation of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem - the Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (wow, big words - I hope I got them right - tr.), together with its prime minister, Sir George Popper and other high officials of the knight order. And this, because Sir Joey DeMaio, Manowar's bassist, is minister of youth in the knightly government.
Famous for the warrior spirit of their music, Manowar has named their latest album, released in 2007, Gods of War Live. Although in concerts they wear leather jackets and the whole "metalhead" arsenal, off stage, Sir Joey DeMaio has the impecable look of an english lord. The Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta will award Jose Carerras, their highest distinction, for his entire artistic career and filanthropic deeds.
